Warren – March 10th – Karen Ashbaugh – Good Changes
I started running with the Running Revolution in 2009. Running opened my life to a variety of physical fitness activities; those that were familiar as well as those that were new. I have completed numerous 5ks, participated in the Tango and completed the sprint Presque Isle Triathlon; all of which I never dreamed would be possible.
Adding physical activity in my life allowed me to be active with my 4 children and husband and to enjoy activities such as running, biking and hiking as a family.
I have also experienced change in my professional life within the past year. I have a Master’s degree in Social Work and have worked as a medical and psychiatric social worker for the past 27 years. I recently left a medical social work position to obtain certification in Life Coaching and to start a private practice as a Life Coach. An Instructor recommended the book written by Diana Sterling, titled “Parents as Coach Approach”. This book really fit with how my husband and I have parented our own children. I am participating in a 17-week course with Diana Sterling to prepare for teaching this approach to others.
